girls night
My mom began scrapbooking years ago. Soon I began to share in that hobby, thoroughly loving it as a chance to be creative and better enjoy my memories preserved through photos. Long story short, she eventually converted to digital scrapbooking and more recently, I did too. Or at least I wanted too. but with three kids and the chaos of life, I have done any scrapbooking in quite some time. But for Christmas, I had bought us tickets to the Scrapbook Expo and booked our hotel so we could stay for the whole two day adventure. Such a blast! I arrived before she did and spent some time wandering around the numerous booths before settling into the "digi-lounge" (the area set aside for digital scrapbooking). I recognized a friend from college and found out that she owned one of the companies hosting a booth of digital scrapbooking resources. So she generously spent some time with me helping me get set up and reintroducing me to Adobe Photoshop. It didn't take long, once upon a time I knew the program well but it's been awhile since I used it. Soon my mom arrived and we set to work, happily scrapping away amist the people, music, positive energy and fun that surrounded us. The deejay announced games, prizes and giveaways. Booths tempted us with their crafts and tasty treats. We worked until after 11 pm, packed up and found our hotel. I had booked a room using the expo's discount code and found our room to be a very nice suite. We stayed up talking until 2 am and then slept til morning when we returned to the expo for more fun. We even entered one of the layout contests and mom took first place! We had a great time and will definitely be there next year, hopefully taking my sister in laws, maybe even my aunt and a few other friends if we can talk them into it. It was a perfect girls night out and so fun.
