living for the weekend part 2783

On Friday night we were joined by jo-jo, Husband’s longtime friend and former mission companion.  We always have such a blast with him and our kids adore him.  Even baby Z took to him immediately and spent a lot of time hanging with uncle jo-jo.  We had dinner and introduced the kids to Back to the Future (which they loved of course!)  We stayed up talking for awhile and jo-jo spent the night.

Saturday morning I went to the gym while husband wrangled the kids and made “daddy eggs”.  Then I traded him out so he and jo-jo could go shooting.  In the afternoon we headed north to my brother’s house.  We attended the baptism of their oldest daughter, combined with the blessing of their newest daughter.  L got to say the opening prayer and A said the closing.  They were both so articulate and sweet and sincere.  L told me later she could really feel the Spirit watching her cousin get baptized and she knew how special it was because it was the same when she was baptized.  My favorite moment was during the baby blessing.  I was standing up rocking baby Z and while taking a quick glance at my kids during the prayer, realized I could see the baby in the blessing circle.  She was perfectly alert and attentive, so gentle and sweet and beautiful.  It was such a precious moment with her perfectly still and content as if she knew how special and meaningful that moment is.  After the meeting, we stayed for the “party” after and had dinner.  The girls sat with cousins and played and talked and giggled like crazy.  They were so good and happy and I love watching them.

We spent the night at my parent’s house.  Grammy had hip replacement surgery and came home with us so she could recover at our house.  We claim its so I can help take care of her and lessen the load for my dad since he has to work.  But really it’s because I just like hanging out with my mom.  So we brought her home with us, arriving home and scrambling to ready for church.  My primary lesson went well and then I spent the evening lounging with my mom helping her settle in.
