knows what he wants

I picked him up from the gym daycare and he immediately lunged for the protein smoothie I had in my other hand.  I didn’t know he knew how to use a straw but he began slurping it down right away.

I picked him up from the sitter and she reported he had been a little fussy, mostly just discontent versus his usual happy self.  I could hear him grumbling and as soon as he saw me, he broke into an animated chatter that seemed to both lecture me and demand I scoop him up and snuggle.  I hugged him and then he promptly turned and waved goodbye to the sitter.

I stripped him down to a diaper and set him on the floor of my closet, where he normally plays and burrows through the laundry for a few minutes while I shower (wow, that sounds terrible actually), and then I open the door for him to join.  But not this time.  He immediately chased me to the shower, pulled himself up and pounded on the glass door begging to come in.  He even managed to unfasten his diaper and get it off as he impatiently waited. And then yes, I picked him up and held him in the shower to clean him up.  Baby loves his long showers, relaxing under the water or catching drops in his mouth to taste them and laughing.
