fish babies

Butterfly and Ladybug just finished a week of swim lessons and I was so impressed.  Butterfly did one week last summer but Ladybug wasn't ready yet.  But this year, we put them in a group lesson together and they did fantastic.  Lessons were taught by a young woman in our ward in her family's pool.  The lesson would start with the kids sitting on the steps, blowing bubbles in the water to get them used to put their faces in the water.  Butterfly did this with no hesitation and by watching big sister, Ladybug quickly followed suit.  Then they did "supergirls", jumping off the step superman-style towards the instructor who would catch them, turn them around and help them practice swimming back by doing "ice cream scoops" (using their arms).  Then the three kids would hold onto "Mr. Noodle" (a pool noodle) and the teacher guided them around the pool to practice kicking and end in front of the jets to make them squeal and giggle. Next was playing "starfish" (practice floating on their backs), jumping in from the side and treading water, another round of supergirl jumps and ice cream scoops and lastly, a ride down the pool slide into the water.  They girls did fantastic.  My little water babies followed directions (mostly) and were eager to do all the exercises without shying away.  They didn't hesitate at all to jump in, put their faces in the water and giggled in delight nonstop.
