We
attended sacrament meeting at the local ward. I have to admit, I love
attending church while on vacation. I love the reassurance that the
gospel is the same everywhere we go. That love and strength and centering
make me feel more connected to where ever I am. The culture or the
scenery may be very different but the goodness of the people is constant.
The girls were most excited by the very tiny lizard sneaking up the aisle.
And their new dresses.
And
then we did the Road to Hana! We downloaded an audio app called the Gypsy
Guide and that definitely enriched the trip. He navigated and told
stories and history and pointed out landmarks. We stopped at Twin Falls
for a quick picnic and short hike down to the falls. They weren’t very
big but the jungle was beautiful. We stopped at the arboratorum and the
girls got a kick out of the “Tarzan ropes”. I love the flowers and
especially the rainbow eucalyptus trees. We saw some beautiful waterfalls
and stopped to eat at a roadside market. I especially loved the Black
Sand beach (so unique and SO beautiful) and the Seven Sacred Pools. We
got there just before sunset and raced down the short hike to see the breathtakingly
beautiful views. The girls got to play for awhile, making piles of
coconuts and driftwoods while Z was happy in his carrier, kicking his legs and
grinning at everyone else on the trail.
