We made it to 36 weeks and are happy to report that things are good. We had a long visit with the doc yesterday during which we discussed all my concerns and complaints and he did every test that might be relevant to make sure she's okay. There was no amniotic fluid detected in the test results which means that our scare over the weekend is still a mystery but the leak appears to have resolved itself. I'm halfway effaced and dilated 1 cm. Baby is well positioned and sitting low, but not fully engaged yet. We got to see our pretty little girl via ultrasound and check to make sure she has plenty of fluid surrounding her. The doc reported that she is currently 7 lbs and 2 oz (according to an ultrasound measurement which resulted in a low predicted estimate for Butterfly and an accurate prediction for Ladybug), putting her in the 90 percentile. He even had us do a stress test to monitor her heart rate and movement and my contractions to make sure there was no cause for concern.
At this point, doc feels confident that she would be okay if my body insisted on going into labor but we will still give her as much time as we can. I feel significantly better emotionally, not so terrified that my movement or activity might hurt her or cause problems. I still have plenty of complaints about how I feel physically, especially since there are several things that are new or worse than during the previous two pregnancies, but overall we are doing great. :)
Meanwhile my neighbors, friends and family have been wonderfully supportive and eager to bring us meals and take the girls for playdates (since I've been pretty much restricted to the bed) and I appreciate them so much. We even wound up with a live in nanny to play with the girls in the evening since my cousintwin needed a place to crash for a week until her new apartment is ready (this worked out a lot better for me than she ever could have expected)! In fact, I think the girls have thoroughly enjoyed this week and think it has been a nonstop party with visitors coming to check on us and so many friends to go play with. But they always come home eager to give me gentle hugs and kisses (Butterfly insists on patting and kissing the baby too). And my husband has been especially amazing, sensitive to my needs, patient with my complaints and rampant emotions, and sharing my concerns.
