We took the girls to the Fair Days Carnival and had a great time. We ate overpriced food, avoided sketchy looking rides and ran into friends and neighbors. Ladybug began squealing and bouncing the minute she spotted the carousel so we took them for a ride on that and she was in heaven. Then we let Butterfly pick a ride and she chose the cars (pretty much same thing as a the carousel but old fashioned cars instead of horses and roosters). The girls begged to play "the duckie game", which consisted of picking up a rubber duck out of the kiddie pool and turning it over to see what size of prize they could get. They both got the small prize and were thrilled with the princess tiaras they got to pick out.
We took them again a few days later so they could use up the rest of their tickets and pick one ride each. This time, Butterfly chose the "castle". It was actually more like a fun house with slides and rope nets and other obstacles. She eagerly ran in while Ladybug cuddled daddy and watched. After a few minutes, Ladybug decided it looked like fun and begged to do it too. She turned in her tickets and made it through the first obstacle and climbed the rope ladder. But then she stopped at the top of the first slide, looked around and realized daddy hadn't followed and that sister was way ahead of her. So she promptly broke. She sat down and sobbed, refusing to continue and go down the slide or turn around and climb down the ropes. Finally daddy had to go in and get her while Butterfly eagerly and excitedly ran through the rest of the fun house and came barreling down the final slide with a huge grin and begging to do it again. We let Ladybug pick the next ride which of course was the carousel. The girls sat on their horses like beautiful princesses with daddy standing right behind them. Each time they passed me they would wave or blow kisses. Ladybug kept exclaiming "yehaw, whee!" and patting her horse's neck.
