fire drill #2

We spent another night at the hospital to check on this little girl who seems determined to cause drama. I was leaking fluid but very uncertain what this meant. I never felt a gush and it was a relatively small amount of fluid so I wasn't sure if my water had broken. After a few hours of deliberating and a phone call to the doc, we checked in at the hospital. The first test (to confirm if it was amniotic fluid) was positive and sent us into a troubling conversation with the nurse what this might mean for our little girl (I'm only 35 weeks). But a second test was negative. So she repeated the first test for another positive result. She called the doc who decided he wanted me to be monitored for a few hours and then would come in to check me himself.

We tried to sleep but I wasn't able to have any anti-contraction meds until we knew for sure what to expect. So after a few hours the doc arrived and started his own exam with more mixed tests results. He even did an ultrasound sound to make sure baby is okay and had plenty of fluid around her.

The conclusion? I appear to be leaking amniotic fluid but it does not appear that my water has officially broken. It's unlikely but possible that there is a small leak somewhere. Without being able to confirm my waters had ruptured, they gave me more anti-contraction drugs (were 5 minutes apart most of the night but I wasn't progressing) and sent us home with a long list of things to watch for. I'm supposed to lie around and then follow up with the doc in a few days for more tests and another ultrasound.

So I spent the rest of the day sleeping while daddy and grandparents played with the girls. Today I feel better physically but admittedly frustrated.
