growing up

guess what came in the mail yesterday?

school registration for my little Butterfly. Can you believe she's old enough to start preschool?

She actually already knows everything covered by the 3 year old curriculum (colors, shapes, numbers, letters, etc.) but we still feel it's important for her to have the experience. So she will be attending school two days a week with a fabulous teacher (sister to one of our good friends actually) and having a blast. She's already begging to go. Nearly everyday she asks if she can go to school today and loves to pretend with her sister or dollies. (mostly they just go to school, I don't think she knows what they will actually do there.)

Every fall I see other moms posting on facebook or talking about how they cried when taking their baby to their first day of school. I don't anticipate being one of those moms because I really am so excited for her! But it is a little strange to me to think about her having this experience on her own. It really is the first big thing she will do without me. (like all children, this is way harder for mom than baby) I won't be there to experience it with her and watch her face light up over a new discovery or help her when she gets stuck on a problem. She will be making friends on her own and hopefully being good for her teacher. It's fun and exciting and I hope she comes bouncing home full of news and stories to share with me.

My little girl is getting so big and I'm so proud of her. Here's to a new and exciting step, have a blast!
