I have often stereotyped my children. Butterfly is super friendly and talkative with a tendency to be loud and aggressive and always the leader of the group. Ladybug has typically been sweet and quiet, more easily content to follow or sometimes just observe.
But we realized that this has changed over the past few weeks. Butterfly is still social and charming but more often lately, we have appreciated how sweet she is. She's eager to share and involve others into her play and despite her high energy, is rather gentle and tender hearted. She gets upset when someone isn't treated fairly, she's a great little helper and she's quick to say "please", "thank you" and "I'm sorry" without prompting.
On the other hand, Ladybug has become more aggressive and attention demanding. She's become more selfish and quick to grab toys from younger playmates. She's begun to have a sassy and defiant streak and she has more willpower than I expect from someone so small. She's still my sweetheart and we have wonderful moments together, especially when I can give her the one-on-one attention that she needs. But this new phase has surprised us. Maybe it's frustrations based on her desire but difficulty in communicating? Maybe she's worried about competing with the new baby for attention? Maybe its just the terrible twos and we will have to work together to get through a difficult stage.
In the meantime, maybe we can send you to grandma's....for as long as possible. ;)
